Midweek Mashup

Before we get into this week's matchups, we have a HUGE trade to talk about! The Sydney Wallabies have mortgaged the future, trading their first 5 picks in a loaded  2018 Draft, along with star goalie Tuukka Rask, to the Northumberland Kings for Louis Domingue and GM Jack Eichel! From the Wallabies side of things, this trade makes sense. They are still solid in nets with Bishop and Murray, and have added Eichel on the last year of his bargain contract. If you're going to make a run at things, making this sort of a splash is the way to go about it. As they showed last year, winning the entire thing is tough. You can lead the season and still fall short. So I like this move from their side of things. From the Kings side of things, this trade is all about long term improvement, and it's just what they really needed to do. It hurts like hell to lose a player of Eichel's ilk, but shoring up that crease AND getting 2 picks per round for the first 5 rounds in a loaded dr...

Monday Morning Power-Play QB

It was a great first week of action, so let's dive into a quick recap! Abitibi VS Vienna As expected, Vienna held on here. A strong showing in nets as well as what could be an exceptional rebound year for Kuznetsov has to have Cutters fans hoping for a better year than last though. Dublin VS Northumberland Their patchwork goaltending held up - or did Dublin's simply not show up? Either way, the reborn Kings are off to a 1-0 start. Dublin's got to be hoping for better results moving forward, and Kings fans are yet to ever taste defeat. B.C VS Las Vegas Oh man, I don't even remember what happened in this game. My head hurts too much. And where's my car? Jokes aside, Las Vegas prevailed, though just barely. A few more timely hits from the Buds and this win could have gone up in smoke for the Vagabonds.Or, you know, playing Cory Schneider. What was B.C thinking? Ottawa VS New England Three-headed dragon be damned, the Whalers split the goalie...

Midweek Mashup

Time to take a look at this week’s matchups! Abitibi VS Vienna The defending champs raised their banner and welcomed last year’s bottom dweller, but it’s been a tight match so far, with Vienna leading 6-5. That said, it will be tough for Abitibi to come back here, as the closest category is STP, which Abitibi already leads in. They will be in tough to turn it around. Dublin VS Northumberland One of four teams playing their first games with their new names, Northumberland had a busy offseason since coming into existence. They’ve managed to hold off the powerful Warriors, who are still dealing with the offseason loss of Henrik Lundqvist. Northumberland is enjoying a nice lead on offence, so if their patchwork goaltending can turn it around, they could very well pull off the upset. B.C. VS Las Vegas In the first ever “Party Cup” game, the Buds are taking on the second of our new teams, the Las Vegas Vagabonds. This IS the game your mother warned you about. It’s been anoth...
